Fairway Interiors
Job: ISO 9001 and Health & Safety Consultancy for Fairway Interiors
Location: West Midlands
Industry: Construction
Date: Ongoing Support since 2004
The Company
Formed in 1992 by brothers John and Matt, Fairway Interiors is a family business which has established a flawless reputation for quality and for carrying out work throughout the UK in interior design and commercial installation. Working both directly with blue chip clients and as a subcontractor to the country’s largest builders, Fairway Interiors needed to ensure the company had the relevant processes and procedures to provide a quality service in accordance with relevant safety legislation. In addition to this, John and Matt wanted to set themselves apart from the competition in the market by ensuring external certification to ISO 9001 and CHAS to provide reassurance to clients that their service was professional from the outset.
Scope of Work
WA Management were identified by Matt and John as a partner back in 2003 with the objective of obtaining ISO 9001 certification and developing a robust health and safety management system. The first task was to undertake a GAP analysis of the existing processes against the standard ISO 9001 and existing health and safety legislation. From the GAP analysis process, actions were identified that would deliver internal process efficiencies and improved safety on site. These actions were then agreed and implemented.
Action and Result
Fairway Interiors achieved external certification to ISO 9001 in 2006 and have maintained it each year since. The implementation has seen a continuous improvement culture develop which extends to all parts of the business, particularly Health & Safety. Regular quality and safety internal audits, both on site and at the head office, identify areas where further improvements can be made year on year and ensure Fairway interiors maintain key supplier status with certifications that are key to the business.
