What is asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous material that has been a popular building material for centuries. Breathing in air containing asbestos fibres can lead to asbestos-related diseases including Mesothelioma, Asbestos-related lung cancer, Asbestosis and Pleural thickening.
On completion of this asbestos awareness training you will be able to:-
- State the uses of asbestos and why it is dangerous;
- Highlight the harmful effects of asbestos;
- Identify asbestos containing materials and where these materials may be found;
- Highlight control procedures when carrying out tasks that may come into contact with asbestos.

This asbestos awareness online course is mandatory for anyone whose role brings them into potential contact with asbestos. This includes but is not limited to; General maintenance workers, Electricians, Plumbers, Joiners, Painters and decorators, Plasterers, Construction Workers, Roofers, Shop fitters, Gas fitters, Heating and ventilation engineers, Demolition workers, Telecommunication engineers, Fire/burglar alarm installers, Computer and data installers, Architects and Building Surveyors.
This course is also suitable as part of a new starter health and safety induction.

This course is an asbestos awareness course. Completion of this training does not allow you to knowingly disturb, remove or dispose of asbestos materials. These activities require you to complete a non-licensed asbestos training course.
