With over 100 years of collective event experience, MLS are a well-established, passionate Sports Consultancy and Event Management organisation.

Working across the UK and internationally, they support with a wide variety of professional sporting evenings including Para Sports, community/mass participation events and multi-sports manifestations.

MLS was officially founded in 1991 following the World University Games in Sheffield, and have grown into a knowledgeable team of industry respected experts.

What did MLS want to solve by hiring WA Management?

Support with delivery of the Event health & Safety requirements for the 2025 World Boxing Championships, to provide a safe and world class inaugural boxing championship event.

What We Did

WA Management provided MLS with Event Health and Safety Support, including:

To be named as the event safety advisor and competent person.
To attend and be part of the planning team to ensure all safety requirements are met.
Attendance at the LOC as a member.
Lead on the development and publication of the event risk assessment.
Support the development of the event safety plan and overlay fire risk assessment.
Lead evaluation of site capacity calculations and input into venue design and flows to ensure they abide by safety best practice.
Check and approve sub-contractor risk assessments and insurance pre-event build.
To undertake event readiness training (resilience training) in conjunction with the Event Director and prior to the event.
Monitor & support progress in addressing those issues that can only be addressed by the event team or sub-contractors.
Work with the venue operation team to produce and deliver site inductions.
Oversee and undertake the temporary infrastructure health and safety sign-off process.
Complete multiple venue checks each day including one prior to the doors open each day (and include a daily report)
On-going and continuous support in addressing Health & Safety issues, including addressing actions required by visiting HSE Inspectors, changes to legislation, and changes to activities.
Ad hoc advice and support through phone calls, visits and e-mails on an on-going basis throughout.

How have WA Management added value?

Through experience of acting as health and safety officer at international, live televised events WA provided support from the initial stages of planning through the event. We worked closely with MLS, World Boxing and the M&S Bank Arena to provide a successful international event with thousands in attendance.

WA Management provided expertise in planning stages, risk profiling the event, ensuring safe capacity calculations were undertaken and minimising risks around site layout, security, emergency preparedness and welfare. Throughout the event WA Management worked as part of a team ensuring daily site inspections were undertaken to allow safe opening and the event ran smoothly and safely.
