Description
Emergency First Aid Awareness Training
Emergency First Aid Awareness: – Course Overview
Research commissioned by the British Red Cross found that only 1 in 10 would feel confident enough to act in a life-threatening first aid emergency. First aid treatment could prevent thousands of deaths each year in the UK, and knowledge of how to help someone with an injury or illness could mean the difference between life and death.
This course will help you understand how to react in an emergency situation and refresh your first aid knowledge. It also covers some of the key topics in an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course, including:
- Identifying symptoms and signs of minor, severe and life-threatening illnesses and injuries and how to administer care for them.
- First aid procedures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
- How to use the primary survey (DR ABC).
- How to carry out the secondary survey using SAMPLE.
- Record keeping and what to include in an incident record.
- The role of an appointed person and first aider.
- First aid risk assessments.
- Covid-19 and infection control.
- Life-saving techniques including CPR, back blows, the recovery position, and abdominal thrusts.
