Scope of Work
Working in partnership with MLS Contract Ltd for British Canoeing, WA Management was part of the team appointed to deliver the 2015 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships at the Olympic Venue; Lee Valley White Water Centre. The health and safety of everyone on site pre, during & post event is a key delivery of any event and was a key delivery objective for the team.
Action and Result
The planning of any event is key. A full risk register was compiled by the key stake holders and actions identified to ensure any risks were minimised. This risk register was reviewed at each planning meeting up to and during the event. The event activities and site layout for the athletes, public and supporting operation were planned ensuring the security, capacity, welfare, emergency arrangements were all mapped out and documented in the event plan; for operational efficiently and cost effectiveness, but above all, to ensure the athletes and public experiences were maximised. Integration into the senior venue teams and direct relationships with Local Authorities and external bodies such as the HSE and environmental agency ensured high risk hazards were identified and solutions prioritised and implemented; enabling the site build, pre, during and post event, to be planned and delivered, ensuring full compliance with the CDM Regulations 2015.
The 2015 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships at the Olympic Venue; Lee Valley White Water Centre has been described as the best yet by the ICF, UK Sport and British Canoeing. The meticulous planning by the team allowed for a smooth and safe delivery of the event which successful – showing once again events can be delivered.
